Love Affair With The Sea

You have to understand the sea, he said, to listen to her, to look out for her moods, to get to know her and respect her and love her. Only then can you build boats that feel at home on the sea.

All my life I have had a love affair with the sea. There is something truly mesmerizing about the ocean for it is both beautiful and deadly, but it is something that I will forever be connected with. There is an insatiable draw towards it so deep that it has become like a craving of the soul.

I have often wondered what it would be like to see this every day. To look out and see the water, boats, birds, maybe dolphins. Its funny how the weather dictates the mood and attitude of the sea each day.

We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came.
